What's In a Name...
The Wichita wedding season is in full swing! We have had the opportunity to meet with some great couples and we are really looking forward to the future! Each time we meet with a potential new client, we always get asked..."how did you come up with your name? It is so beautiful." Well, it is a unique story...
I grew up in NW Indiana about an hour away from Chicago and have always had a love for the Chicago Cubs. GO CUBBIES! Shortly after graduating from Wichita State, I accepted a position in my all time favorite city of Chicago. I was thrilled and terrified...I couldn't believe I was finally going to live and work in Chicago! It didn't take me long to zero in on a neighborhood in the biggest smallest city in the world. Yep, Wrigleyville home of the Chicago Cubs, was were I planned to live. I found a small brownstone apartment on the corner of Waveland and Wilton and could see the back of Wrigley Field from my bedroom window! It was pretty awesome. During a visit from my boyfriend (now husband) I recall one afternoon walking through the neighborhood he mentioned "Addison, that's actually a great name for a girl." As some of you may recognize, the front Wrigley Field sits on the corner of Clark St. and Addison St. I too agreed, it was a lovely name. :-)
So there's Addison...now where in the world did Grace come from? Well, that's unique as well. My husband and I are huge fans of the Dave Matthews Band...'Dave Heads' as some might call us. We first saw the band play live at Soldier Field in Chicago and we even got engaged several years later (nearly 12) visiting Chicago to see the band play at Wrigley Field. (he did not propose at the concert) We have seen nearly 30 concerts in the 15 years we have been together. Yes, that is a bit nuts! But we love it. One of my absolute favorite songs is Grace is Gone, which you can find on the Busted Stuff album (however I highly recommend any live recording). It's a beautiful song...
So, both names Addison and Grace are beautiful by themselves...it wasn't until nearly 4 years ago on a plane ride returning from a business trip that I put the two together...Addison Grace...beautiful, fun, elegant, timeless, classy with a modern twist, loved it. This name has always been with me. A few years later when it came time to select a name for my business, I kept thinking about this name. It truly embodies everything I wanted my business to be...
So what's in a name? For me, just about everything.
